We collect the objects distinguished with traditional culture and living standards.
We possess 7300 main materials, 800 supplementary materials.

- Woman’s costume in Stara Zagora
- Man’s black costume
- Traditional jewelry – buckles, belts, bracelets, rings, necklaces and others.
- Ritual bread
- Pottery and wrought copper

Subjects of research:
Studies on the living standard in Stara Zagora in the 19^th century; the national holidays and enjoyment during the national revival; the customs; the ethnic and religious communities in the province Stara Zagora; water-supply and fountains, vine-growing and production of wine and others.

Plans and programmes in the department:
1. The workshop – ‘Bulgarian tradition is still alive’ – competitions by pupils for making Sourvaknitsa, Martenitsa and Easter Eggs. They are held at the house museum ’19^th century’s town life’.
2. The museum ‘Bulgarian tradition is still alive’ and the exhibition ‘Trades in Stara Zagora between the end of the 19^th century and the beginning of 20^th century’ give the best condition to workshops and lectures.
